Longest distance a road uses an abandoned railway alignment?

Not sure if Cambridgeshire Guided Busway counts as being a road. Its section from Cambridge North to St Ives is 13 miles.

Sheffield Supertram & Tram Train news

I assume the 399s with the tram wheel profile (rather than the tram-train wheel profile) can't run onto National Rail tracks?

    DB Cargo UK being sold

As a outsider, I had assumed that among the factors for DB Cargo being less competitive than its rivals were: - Higher overheads to pay for infrastructure that nimbler rivals don't have, e.g. Toton works and other large yards - Less efficient staff contracts that are probably evolutions of...

    Flixbus through the channel tunnel

I didn't get meal vouchers when I travelled on FlixBus N1328 London to Warsaw, which when I did it was P&O outward, Irish Ferries back.

    Banking trains in the UK

How does the banking locomotive driver know if the leading locomotive driver is unexpectedly braking (e.g. due to a yellow signal or seeing an obstruction on the track) and hence banking should stop, particularly if radio communication has been unexpectedly lost?

Sliding step vs sliding gap filler - terminology

Thanks. I'm trying to figure out if people might wrongly assume that means a device fitted to a platform.

    Banking trains in the UK

How does it work on the radio? I assume that as a failsafe, if the banking locomotive hears silence on the radio, they cease banking. i.e. they only apply banking if they're actively being told to apply banking.

Sliding step vs sliding gap filler - terminology

What's the correct term for the device that's fitted to a train doorway to help achieve level boarding? The following video shows a device fitted to a Stadler Flirt train. Most frequently I hear this called a 'sliding step'. Is that the correct term for it? The following video shows a device...

    375/377 - poor quality ride

I have noticed this sitting at a vehicle end on a GWR 387, which felt like it was shaking from side to side.

    National Express Coaches Discussion

What's the advantage of departing the origin at 02.00/01.45? Is it maybe that the arrival time at the final destination is then better timed for the coach to immediately depart on a daytime journey back the other way?

    BusTimes.Org

FlixBus coaches don't have a typical bus ticket machine (e.g. made by Ticketer), do they? What device provides tracking information for FlixBus coaches - is it a FlixBus operator app on a mobile phone or tablet?

    North Filton / Brabazon

On the National Rail website I just noticed that Bristol Brabazon appears in the stations list, and it does appear first. The website wouldn't find any journeys though.

    London Buses Discussion

TfL has chosen a rubbish location to terminate route 42! Shall we terminate the route in the City of London or terminate the route at London Bridge Station? Nope, let's terminate it short of either of those.

Lots of delivery vehicles on London roads too.

    Darlington station expansion

I think it's inefficient that the new ticket gateline is distant from the new ticket office, and the new ticket office is an old-fashioned ticket window behind glass. A consolidated layout could have allowed staff to work together at busy times, and allowed one staff member to cover both roles...
