I don't believe in a month of Sundays that they look at every single application. I think it's more likely that they grab some off the top of the pile, and if amongst that group they get what they need, they just chuck out the rest of the applications.
To me, "all positions have been filled and the vacancy has now been closed" means they worked through some applications, got what they wanted and then closed the vacancy without needing to review the rest of the applications. So basically you have to hope your application is near the top of the...
Had the same email as others today sadly: "Unfortunately on this occasion, all positions have been filled and the vacancy has now been closed." Hugely frustrating and demoralising.
Seems to be pot luck as to whether you're one of the lucky few who get their applications looked at first, and...
Applied for Newcastle with no response as yet. There seems to be no rhyme, reason, pattern or understanding of the rail industry recruitment methods and processes. Like many, I've applied many times for trainee driver roles over the last 9 years. Sometimes you get a fast response, sometimes it...
I've just had the rejection email following the video interview too. Gutted. Has to be said, I've probably applied for a train driver role as an external applicant at least 8 times over the last 7 years. Many more applications on top of that for other roles such as a conductor/train manager...
Wouldn't surprise me if they're doing internals first, then just outright reject all external applicants if they get what they need. Would be a bit of an insult to everyone who makes the effort to apply. An LNER apprentice driver role in Newcastle only closed a couple of weeks ago. I've already...
Did the video recording questions today. Didn't think any of the questions were too challenging, but time will tell. Like many, I've no previous railway experience.
Not too sure how many vacancies are available. I know an LNER driver (very close relation) who thinks a fair few Newcastle drivers...
Hi,
You mentioned that you just failed the LNER application at the judgement scenarios stage. I completed each of the three assessments last night. At what point did you find out you failed, and how far in were you? As in, did you do all three tests, or did you learn of the failure earlier...
Hi All,
I submitted the application on the 14th September, and got this email today:
"Thank you again for your application for the above role.
Your application is now under consideration and is being screened.
Please bear with us as we work through all of the applications that we received...
Got the email last Saturday from Virgin recruitment that they would like to progress my application and invited me to do the online test.
Having just done it I'm quite surprised that the test itself focuses on one aspect only. The email inviting you to take the test also links to many different...
Bad news for me sadly I wasn't successful, had my assessment on Thursday 3rd April. I'm looking to get the opinions of everyone in this thread for this question and for anybody who may have had a similar experience in the past.
I was only given 6 days' notice for the assessment day, and the...
Still no news for me. Think the process is slightly unfair in that some people find out earlier than others if they have progressed. This results in people getting first choice for the slots, and also means they have an advantage in extra preparation time for assessments. I think it would be...
My Assessment was in York on Thursday 3rd afternoon, plus my surname begins with M, so not too hopeful of hearing today. Hopefully tomorrow, good luck to all!
Hi there, I've got my first day of Assessments in York tomorrow with TPE. Was just hoping if anyone knew if there is a dress code at all? Also to anyone who may have been to assessments over the past couple of days, is there any advice or information you'd be willing to share? Thanks.
