    Ah, the joys of outsourcing

Free Bus Travel for young people: Soon to be in England.

Very few I would have thought. It is a great pity that this thread has been so negative and obsessive about particular minor aspects of the scheme.

Why doesn't Ripon have a train line towards Harrogate or York?

The biggest surprise to me is that North Yorkshire has a transport plan!

Why is Edge Hill closed on Sundays?

Well Edge Hill University did move nearly 100 years ago! 1787913363 Although this was indeed an epic fail, I think this closed several years ago. 1787913432 and slowly expanding in the direction of Edge Hill railway station.

Cambridge South : no parking (and local CCTV is dissuade anyone from stopping near by...)

There are plenty of stations without parking. There will always be proposed new stations where car parking will not be possible. In addition, Cambridge is not really a city for cars.

Why is Edge Hill closed on Sundays?

Gentrification is probably currently focused on the Baltic Triangle (hence Liverpool Baltic) and the area between the Isle of Man Passenger Terminal and Everton's new stadium (aka Liverpool Waters).

Trivia : Are there any stations that have no public exits?

You used to be able to walk through the tunnel. I did it once but it wasn't great

    Delay repay is it destructive?

What I mean is that as only 50% of passengers ever claim it is the equivalent of the TOC having to pay out 50% of the ticket revenue for each one hour delay (i.e. 50%*100%+50%*0%= 50%) In other words, if I was producing a budget or a business proposal within a TOC I would make an delay repay...

    Delay repay is it destructive?

Although in practice an hour's delay costs the TOCs a 50% refund.

    Delay repay is it destructive?

So sounds like TOCs don't do too badly with Delay Repay at the moment, as the actual net financial outgoing rates for failure are effectively halved.

    Delay repay is it destructive?

Presumably paid out rather than "incurred"?

Manchester City Centre free bus 2 / Victoria station

One is almost exclusively to transport passengers from one station to another. One is there to take people to all parts of the city centre, of which other stations is but a part. Because of this alternative focus there is less concern about stopping directly outside the railway station.

Free Bus Travel for young people: Soon to be in England.

I have. Travelled last week from Altrincham to Warrington around 1400. Plenty of room. Around half a dozen young teens got on and off during the journey. Well behaved. No smoke bombs, balaclavas, knife crime.
