That would have slowed the production down. Once a vehicle has been stripped, it goes straight to the weld shop, and from the weld to the next station. That is usually the team who work on the underframe. Also in between stations there is sometimes arising work from previous stations.

If i was a guessing man, i reckon all 26 sets could be done by december. Especially as a contact finishes in March which, would release a lot more welders and fitters/vehicle builders.
The asbestos was only minimal, it was found in the bitumen paint that was put on the inside shell when first built.
It was classed as non licensed removal, and was removed in certain areas before it went to the welders and then vehicle builders.
We are talking 0000000.1% but as we all know...

There was issues at first with corrosion, asbestos, mold and workers leaving for Hitach.

Set 12 is due to leave Friday, GWR is all but done and the XC will be around June time. There is another contract finishing in March, so that will give the ASR a big push.
By Easter that could well be the case, the GWR and another contract at Wabtec will finish. Those spare men will all move over to the ASR side, hopefully speeding things up.
