Yes, it would be overground based at NXG. I live in Hurst Green, so just outside Oyster Fare Zone. My nearest station that accepts Oyster is Upper Warlingham.

Thanks for your reply. Good to know & yeah worth a try. Would be nice rather then it being a blanket fare on simply my home station to my work station, the reduced fare could be applied to part of the journey but dont hold out much hope but let's see!
I'm a current rail employee. Im thinking of switching TOC's to one located in the London area. This TOC offers a concessionary oyster card for travel in zones 1-6 (can be used for residential & leisure travel)
As I live outside zone 6, would I only need to pay the discounted season ticket rate...
