    Freight train speed limits

I'm sorry, but I really don't see why you feel that you should make the statements that you have. My OP was placed in good faith, I find this response to be extremely "disappointing", to say the least. Is a member of the rail using public not allowed to make a comment that a train appeared to...

    Freight train speed limits

Is the max speed limit for a freight train still 75mph ? I was on Winchester station when a Southbound container train went through at what seemed a VERY high speed. A 66 was hauling it; we passed it a bit later in Eastleigh station, later it trundled though Southampton Central at about 20 mph.

    Ticket barriers - Glasgow Central

The barrier at Plymouth wouldn't let me out the other day, the member of staff at the barrier did after "looking" at my ticket. As I walked out of the station I was looking at my ticket to see if there was anything amiss - there was ! It was the reservation. The barrier worked properly, the...

    Priority seat story

Absolutely ! I must confess that I was under the misapprehension that this indeed was the case, hence my (short lived) pleasure at finding empty priority seats on what was always going to be a busy service. I have never seen a priority seat reserved on my local services (158s), which can be...

    Priority seat story

Many thanks - but stranger and stranger....... Not being a Facebook user I couldn't open your link, so I sent it to my daughter to open for me. I then discover from her that someone had "cut and pasted" part of my post on this forum and put it on Facebook !

    Templecoombe Station

I must agree with that - recently caught the 0645 from Salisbury to Waterloo, was amazed at the number of people getting on at the "village" stops to Basingstoke. 10 coaches full, then non stop from Basingstoke to W'loo.

    Priority seat story

The train had been announced (and shown on dep board) beforehand but the doors were locked while the train was "serviced". The doors were unlocked and everyone then piled on board, there were certainly no reservation tickets in the coaches that we were in until well after the train had departed...

    Priority seat story

I actually had a similar incident on BH Monday. My wife and I, both in our late 60s; me with a recent hip replacement, wife waiting for a knee job has a disabled card. Board train in Plymouth, aim for and get Priority seats - bit more room to stretch "poorly" legs out/close to doors/loo. After...
