Seems no-one told GA of the plan 2 rescue. Taken 3 hours CHM - SRA as no replacement buses ready (which seems odd as loads at Ingatestone 4 the planned works anyway).
As someone who does similar journeys from Chelmsford. I can appreciate the x00 and x30 inter city being off limits unless reserved. But connection times are OTT, and their should be more flexibility on taking local trains that are not reservable.
Yes. I had this today. Every passenger being asked if they 10k/drugs/alcohol/tobacco. Luckily on a train 'only' 30 minutes late leaving. Not much point arriving earlier as you will wait 4 earlier train queues to clear.
Took about 45 mins to get through and i was lucky as a lateish arrival...
It was pretty shocking tonight from Liv St. Only 4 carraige trains instead of 12, v.v.slow between Stratford & Romford in packed non air con trains. Given the # Chelmsford/Witham commuters, no effort seemed 2 be made to run shuttle services 2 CHM/Witham when Colchester was closed 4 5+...
Turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Seeing as friends who got the earlier trains were significantly delayed due to signal failure anyway.
My original point stands though......
I think my point is the poor planning. Cancelling 3 services in a row and leaving a 26 minute gap between mainline GEML trains going to Chelmsford and beyond seems a little odd between 5 & 6pm.
If you're going to have a summer contingency timetable for heat, then leaving one of the busiest...
I feel sorry for the Chelmsford commuters (yes myself included).
This means at the start of the main evening peak, 3 straight 12 car trains are cancelled (17:18, 17:20, 17:32).
This does not seem particularly clever planning.
It is an absolute joke the rail replacement in Essex. To add to our misery they lay on replacement buses that can't even make the speed limit on the A12.
No compensation for a season ticket which is purchased with the intention of using it most weekends. The crossrail benefit for GEML...
Does anyone know how long the GEML will be shut at weekends for this work? It is a pain and some travelling via Ingatestone every weekend. It's a poor enough service on Sundays as it is when running! Let alone the wait at Newbury park 4 half hour, to get a coach which then makes you wait 15m @...
I could buy a Liv St to Manchester ticket, very slightly more expensive than using an Oyster (1/3 off as gold card discount), and also a little more hassle than just looking at trains leaving Euston. I am aware of min connection times and meet them, I had assumed re split ticketing that as long...
I often do similar journeys. When I book advance journeys to Liverpool or Manchester from Euston, I use a two together railcard with my wife. We start from Chelmsford to Liverpool Street using our gold cards, then use Oyster for Liv St to Euston. So are we not covered in the event of a delay...
