Fair enough - and I agree more proactive platform management would help - just being smug that it means I get a seat every time :D What is interesting though, is that on ANY given platform at ANY time of day, the number of people using a station for the first time, or even first in a long while...
Interesting thread this. Seems to me that in most cases the railway is providing you as much information as possible and no one pays heed. Edmonton Green up side is a great example. Mix of 4 and 8 coaches, stairs and lift to platform, and the canopy, at the country end. The regular commuters are...
My car was parked in the open at the RAF Museum all day without shade all day and reported a temperature of 43 degrees when I got in at 5pm - so a full train of people will get toasty quite quickly.
I saw the incident I described above just after. There may be another wire issue but there are...
And now where I actually am - the MML adjacent to Grahame Park Way there's a member of staff looking forlornly at some broken looking OHLE. 700 at a stand in rear.
Roughly in line with the pedestrian under pass
There is a massive fire ongoing in a field that has spread to houses and businesses north of Hagley - the railway cuts straight through the affected area. I'm not on site but looks like everything has been stopped beyond Stourbridge.
Presumably most of these come from pubs, as bus stops (and indeed railway stations) often do.
I was going to note Crooked Usage, but see it was mentioned much earlier in the thread - this is on Hendon Lane in Finchley, named after a side road of the same title which is rather well-to-do! I...
My side hustle is in social media (non league football) and while we acknowledge the fact we are contributing to the hellscape, we simply can't throw away over 7000 followers (of admittedly varying quality) - Twitter/X still remains the key place to do non league engagement. I wonder if the same...
Forgive me as I'm not overtly familiar with the area, but Newton Abbot doesn't seem all that important a place to terminate Motorail - so was it chosen because there was an intact bay that had road access, or was it something else?
(or was it at that time, most stations had access like this?)
Did anything else come of this? The way Wells Terrace and the routes are set up here make it harder for a bus to hit the bridge than avoid it. Serious brainfade in play, I'd think!
I find this a very interesting view, as at my place we are seeing a fall in potential students at the top end of our spectrum as our LA forces mainstream schools to increase their in-house SEND provision (in fairness, SEND secondary is a bit different, but still)
We don't have reserves anymore...
Superb summary, and as a CoG of a special secondary, you couldn't have hit the nail squarer on the head.
It is an arguably more challenging experience than my day job.
