Travelled from Carlisle to Kirconnel in the last couple of days and was told by conductor ' Yes your Northern Pass is ok, a circular has been sent round', is this correct does anyone know ?

It's well known that where there's a will there's a way, if the ultimate aim of any participants in a dispute is the same, a successful conclusion can usually be reached, a problem arises when one party does not have the same aim in mind and uses the dispute for their own long term agenda.

Some locations have notice's stating loco's should be shut down if stood for any lenght of time ( Hereford station/Cheltenham Spa and Crewe Gresty road spring to mind, not sure if others exist) why would signs be necessary at these locations ?

Would there be any security concerns if a Class 66 was left idling in a siding at the head of a GBRF freight train with no staff in attendance for 14 hours ?

So that fact that no one is in attendance would not be a consideration ?, ( can you give any examples of the possible operational requirements )

Is there any restriction on the length of time a freight train ( not engineers) should be left unattended in a siding with the engine running ?

Interesting to ascertain how many more would be travelling if their were no fire risk arrangements
