This was answered just a few weeks ago - it's primarily based on the complexity of the panel/workstation/frame combined with the traffic level of the line(s) in your control.

I wouldn't feel too worried about that... From experience, there seem to be positions in Scotland every few months at least.

I will say right off the bat, don't feel disheartened - there are many stories on this and other forums that say you're highly unlikely to get the job on your first attempt - it can often take multiple, even tens of attempts. Keep your chin up, and best of luck for if you decide to go for it again!

That's normal - remember that everyone who was offered the tests has up to five days to complete them, and HR won't, for obvious reasons, start sifting applications until everyone has completed their tests and they've received all the results. So it'll take at least 5-6 days from the closing...

Aye. Passed out is common railway parlance for completing your training and qualifying as competent for whatever you were training in. Can be quite terrifying when you inadvertently say it to non-railway folk... "I passed out on the shunter today..."

Got the email this afternoon that my application was unsuccessful for Kingussie... Oh well, onwards and upwards. Still got an application in for Kirkconnel, which has been idle for a couple months, but I can live with that - just have to keep my eyes peeled for the next recruitment drive
