The share of the vote that Labour and Tories receive has fallen from around 85% during the 50s, 60s and 70s to around 65% and now they are struggling to get 60% in opinion polls. The most significant question this raises is about reform of the electoral system. There are no easy answers to that...
Hi, I've been looking at this with some interest. If I still lived near Leeds I would try and go for a ride on it. If I have 'tracked' the diagram correctly this ends up in York at 1606 having brought 2R08 from Hull? If so, where does it go next? The only possibility I can see is the 'extra'...
Hello all. I see from RTT there is a special working due into Harrogate on Friday at 11.16 from Wolverhampton (actually originates at Crewe). It then goes to Neville Hill for stabling, before coming back to Harrogate to do the return working at 16.28. It appears to leave 70 tonnes in Harrogate...
Interesting stuff. Not much mention of Harrogate Line on this thread yet. Apparently the A59 between Harrogate and Knaresborough will be closed for much of the day - so I assume the buses between the two towns won't be running. Which begs the question - I can't see trains running through...
The platform was number 2, and was used until the early 1990s for Harrogate - York workings. I think on Sundays until the early 1990s the through service was still split in Harrogate - with workings doing Leeds/Knaresborough and Harrogate/York, due to the Sunday York service being summer only...
