Tyne & Wear Metro .. Most Run-down Station

I'd also add that when the opened up the tunnel bore of the platforms during the refurb of Haymarket has resulted in the platforms having a break feet to them (IMHO). The concourse is quite dark and dingy too, especially compared to the old one.

Betting shop plan for Sunderland station retail unit

Haymarket Metro station in Newcastle has a Betfred as well.

Lines which could do with improved signalling headways/more aspects

The double block signalling on the Pelaw - Sunderland section of the Durham Coast line could be removed with the old Metrocar fleet is fully withdrawn (double block signalling was introduced to reduce the likelihood of head on collisions between mainline trains and the very lightweight...

Newcastle to Amsterdam : DFDS 2 night trip (£79 for 2 people)

Here is a promotional video for MS Peter Pan (Princess Seaways) and MS Nils Holgersson (King Seaways) when they were relatively new for TT-Line for the Travemünde - Trelleborg service:

Newcastle to Amsterdam : DFDS 2 night trip (£79 for 2 people)

I'm doing the mini cruse setting off on the 3rd of January. I've done it before and I enjoyed it too. Through Discounts for Teachers I can get a 33% discount and a free buffet breakfast for one leg of the trip.

UPDATED: Used a fake ticket and got caught

I was thinking that too - or perhaps the usual people who handle it have started an early holiday. Regardless, GTR in the past always seemed to be amenable to out of court settlements if a person had not come to their attention before, was not abusive to their staff or had been forging tickets...

UPDATED: Used a fake ticket and got caught

I was a bit surprised that this case ended up going via the SJPN route, unless there are further undisclosed factors that could have influenced GTR's decision of course. IMHO writing to them again is the best thing to do right now to establish if any further correspondence was lost. The OP is...

£2.5bn Leeds Tram plan delayed after government review

The fact that outside of London, the fact that only Glasgow, Liverpool and Newcastle have any sort of underground rail system is utter insanity as well.

The 'Blue Pullman' DMU/DEMU (Manchester Central to London St Pancras)

That was my first thought TBH - perhaps ETH generator coaches would have been an option. In hindsight, perhaps BR not embracing air-conditioned stock in the 60s for InterCity services was a bit of a blunder, as it could have been a marketing/passenger experience advantage over the using the car...

The 'Blue Pullman' DMU/DEMU (Manchester Central to London St Pancras)

Does anyone know how reliable the air conditioning fitted to the Blue Pullman sets was? If it was reliable at the time perhaps the Mk2 fleet should have been air conditioned from the outset if BR at the time was a bit more forward thinking.

Northumberland Line needs greater capacity (lengthened trains and/or higher frequency)

If they actually worked, they could have been a good medium-term solution: 4 cars, wide doors at the 1/3 and 2/3 positions to allow quicker loading and unloading, and a high-density seating layout.

Great British Railways: Station identity and livery unveiling (09/12/25)

TBH the ScotRail livery is just as bad.

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

They definitely do have some padding, but it is more on the dense side so does not have much give. On some seats the base cushions do seem to have a bit of give in terms of their attachment to the actual seat base too. 1764805786 I spotted today that a new LED signal has been installed at the...

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

It is probably better to compare them to the 777s. Probably Nexus only smart thing to have done was to require the future maintenance and ongoing mod lability to Stadler.

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

All of the stations seem to have some kind of provision for platform extensions (even if it is passive). The likes of Longbenton and Walkergate have additional sets of headspans beyond the platforms that would easily accommodate an extended platform without neededing OHLE drastic modifications.
