Debit card declined

Okay so just to put me at ease my card was declined he didn't take any details. But said I would get a letter will I or won't I? I know some of you think I won't but I'm still worried.

I was in a rush to get to my train. I didn't have time to buy a ticket from the ticket office so I tried to pay by debit card when on the train. The ticket man told me it had been declined i dont know why becuase i had more than enough money to pay the £3 fair and I had no other way of paying...
