Our 1999 Jag XJ has it, and while we haven't had much cause to use it this winter, it can be very useful at times - you can just about see the lines, but only if you're trying to notice them. It makes warming up the car in cold weather a much quicker process.

My most recent journey in Standard Premier (early in January) hit a new low for me - it was a breakfast service, and the 'breakfast' provided amounted to a small yoghurt, a mini croissant, and a mini bread roll. Extremely unimpressive.

One - admittedly smaller - alternative to the Motor Show is the Canary Wharf Motorexpo, which can be quite good fun, and runs every year. It's free to enter (the majority of stands are dotted around public spaces in the vicinity of Canada Square) and they usually have a fair selection of cars...

I very much hope the latter - while I use standard class most of the time on FGW when I do use first it's generally quite well-filled (excepting Cotswold line HSTs). What, I wonder, would this mean for the Pullman Dining services, which FGW have only recently revamped - if HSTs only have 1...

At my local Waitrose, there's never much of a queue at the machine by the reception desk, but the café has been noticeably busier since the free tea/coffee offer was introduced - perhaps this works out quite well for Waitrose though, as at the café people are likely to buy a snack of some sort...

It's quite a tricky question to answer - the trains vary a lot in length over the course of the day. At their shortest, they could be 3-car 165s/166s, but could equally be worked in multiple with another 3-car (or a 2-car), making a 5 or 6 coach train. Equally, a number of services are operated...
