I agree a reopened Leamside line should be light rail only. Re crossing the River Wear, Belmont Viaduct is still there, waiting to be re-used. A new rail bridge over or under the A1(M) would be needed, just north of junction 62, preferably at right angles.
I agree 100% that Railway Clearing House colours would be much better. Blue for GWR lines just looks wrong compared to yellow. South of Dorchester to Weymouth should be yellow only historically but maybe alternating colours should be used when present day services share a line, in which case...
Enforce the "dogs must be carried on escalators" rule on the London Underground. Pooch-less passengers have been getting away with it for far too long.
Interesting map. A few suggestions/comments:
Reduce gap between Hull and Barton-upon-Humber
Sheringham line in brown, NE then N of Norwich
Lowestoft directly NE of Ipswich, in brown?
Felixstowe directly E of Ipswich
Bicester North north of Oxford-Bletchley
Remove kink from Chippenham-Westbury...
A couple of teenage trainspotters (who shall remain nameless) entered Stewarts Lane one summer evening in the late 1970s by using a carriage key, walked around the depot unmolested and left the same way they got in.
How many years has the Dawlish route got left? It will have to be replaced at some time. Anybody know the maximum gradients on the A380 south of the A38?
I was thinking of a modified Midford where single track becomes double at both ends of the station and platform is where second track would have been.

Not sure how the ASCII graphics below will appear, but are there any real-life examples of a double-track railway being singled just at a station (XXXXXXXX) due to physical constraints or so that passengers don't have to cross the line?

With so much in tunnels, what proportion of Handsacre-Euston will actually be high speed? Daft question: because they are smaller, could classic-compatibles go quicker in tunnels than captive units?
All Sunak's recent announcements prove that we now have government by personal whim of an unelected prime minister who has gone rogue. Anything he personally dislikes is liable to be banned, scrapped or delayed, with no scrutiny by parliament or any other consultation.
