Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

Pre deregulation the old 49 ran to the Little France turning circle which was by the football field/running track on Old Dalkeith Road.I’m not sure the 33 ever terminated there as it to by knowledge had always interworked with another service and stopped on Ferniehill Drive The 31 pre...

Trivia: routes that serve the same stop twice in the same journey

Borders Buses X62 serves the East Station Car Park and The Bridges stops twice in Peebles on its way from Edinburgh to Galashiels.

The tree work they did at the start of the year in Glenlockhart Road has made a massive difference to the clearance for deckers.

    Stagecoach East Scotland

The Motorways Traffic (Scotland) Regulations 1995 (SI 1995 No.2507) (S.183) permit buses to use motorways but they are not allowed to stop and pick up passengers on such roads. Buses that have been approved or certified to carry standing passengers in accordance with national or European...

    Stagecoach East Scotland

I'm almost 99.9% sure it was Stagecoach behind it. I lived in Dunfermline at the time and it was very useful as it did drop offs in places like Duloch. I'm sure you had to book it like a taxi but it was much cheaper as you were sharing the cost with the other occupants. The local Dunfermline...

    McGill’s Midland Bluebird

Is the purpose of the X19 like most of what Lothian Country did in the West with First and McGills more about abstracting enough passengers to make the X38 less profitable to the point they consider pulling out. Playing the long game if you like using the profits made in the city to subsidise...

    McGill’s Midland Bluebird

Apologies if this should sit in Speculative on a separate thread. Given McGills recent desire to expand I wondered if they had considered buying Stagecoach's Fife and Tayside operation. It would surely be a good fit given they already own Xplore and Midland Bluebird.

On a completely selfish note it would be great if they extended the 36 to the airport.

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

Back in the seventies when the 11 terminated at Fairmilehead and the 15 at Princess Margaret Rose Hospital. It used to reverse in if recall the 7 and 37 interworked the Kaimes to Newhaven route. The 18 Burdiehouse to Barnton interworked with the 41. The 31 interworked with the 33 as said but...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

They actually did do a tour called the sea the city and the hills back in the late 70s/early 80s which if I recall went through the likes of Gilmerton and Gracemount on its route round the city. It ran with white double decker Atlanteans if I recall. It may have even gone through Niddrie.

https://www.west-dunbarton.gov.uk/roads-parking-travel/gritting-and-grit-bins/how-grit-works/ This article if I've managed to copy the link properly explains how grit/salt works and in instances like this morning where the snow fell quickly no amount of action before the event is going to help.

Edinburgh & The Lothians Council Tender Services

Does the 60 go into the Dumbiedykes estate like it did way back about 40 years ago or just serve Holyrood Road. Its a shame Lothian couldn't have just rerouted the 45 to cover this if it was the latter.

    Independent Operators in the Lothians

Saw a Citylink coach on Edinburgh Coach Lines 13 service tonight in Ravelston Dykes. Does this happen a lot?

Would I be right in saying that with the X99 Cruise link and the Royal Highland Show all running today there must be very few spare buses. I take it the specials are offered as overtime.

McGill's Scotland East (Midland Bluebird and Eastern Scottish)

Is it possible to tout for passengers at the airport..like they do for tours in the city centre. Or because it is private property is that a no no. Also the current operators routes all feature on the Airport website. It's the first place I look for transport options at any airport I fly into if...
