Thanks he is working on a reply now. Do you think it is a good idea to mention he has the email address of a witness or would that just make matters worse. It is a stranger not a friend.
Many thanks
The letter of intended prosecution for my son arrived today. Just to recap my son's details were taken for being in a 1st Class carriage with a standard ticket. He moved to allow pushchairs to board then couldn't get out. Anyway he is not disputing being there. In retrospect he should have stood...
They didn't take his ticket though which was a standard return. So that's why we are puzzled about the slip of paper and not sure what to do. It looks like he has to wait for a letter. He isn't denying ending up in 1st class. He did not plan to be there though and isn't looking to use an excuse...
Yes in retrospect he should not have moved out of the way for them. He certainly won't again.
Apologies it is indeed season not seasonal. Sorry
The slip of paper says.
"If fail to carry passenger to send a copy of their season ticket within 14 days to the address below"
Passenger may...
I totally agree. There is nothing to say what the procedure is. He still has his ticket but there seems to be no point sending a copy as it is a standard and not 1st Class.
Thanks to everyone who is trying to help though.
This is what is says. It also has the station at the start of the journey and destination station on it. I'd rather not say what they are.
"If fail to carry , passenger to send a copy of their seasonal ticket within 14 days to the address below, failure to do so may lead to prosecution."...
Ok thanks Island for the information about the slip of paper.
It looks like he will just have to wait for a letter in the post and take it from there.

DaveNewcastle. Do you know if there is any way to pay the £20 now. He doesn't appear to have...
Thanks DaveNewcastle for your very helpful reply.
I take your point about responding to a parent and understand what you are saying. But I'm still grateful for advice.
My son understands the importance of travelling with the correct ticket. He says he saw the ticket inspector approaching but...
Thank you for your replies. He is feeling very upset about this but although he will pay up he really feels it very unfair. The slip of paper he was given is confusing. The train was packed and it was pouring with rain so busier than ever. Will let you know what happens.
Hi
Please advise. My 20 year old son was travelling home today in a very busy carriage and stepped back to allow 2 pushchairs on. He was pushed back into a first class carriage as there was no room to stand in 2nd class. Suitcases were also blocking his path. A ticket inspector got on the train...
