Triangular journeys in a journey planner

Does anyone know of any online journey planners that can deal with triangular journeys? Nearly all of them I've used allow you to pick one or more "via" points, but don't appear to support triangular journeys where the outbound and return legs have different routes.

Incident at Talerddig, Wales - 21/10/2024

Also I didn't realise that 158s don't have a light in the sanding button to show when sand is being deployed (para 83). Perhaps if the sanding button did have the function to light up when sand was being laid, the driver may have noticed it not being lit and done something different, now knowing...

    Vintage Trains Updates

You might want to check your spam folder! I got an email on the 1st with the confirmed timings and an updated ticket with coach and table number.

People obtaining railway keys and breaking into cabs

Quite simply cabs should not be able to be accessed by T keys. If the TOCs are actually serious about the risk of unauthorised people gaining access to cabs, they would be swapping locks over to something else. Even a BR1 would be better as at least you can't just jam something vaguely the right...

Trivia: Which station has the latest first train or earliest last train?

On the Crewe to Derby line on Sundays, both Uttoxeter and Tutbury and Hatton have their first trains of the day depart at 1457! Trains are then hourly until the last ones after 10pm. This is because the line only has one shift of signalers on Sundays.

Wrexham, Shropshire & Midlands Railway updates

The ECS originates at Derby Litchurch Lane as 5Z70 on the same morning, but there's also another 5Z70 on Saturday from Yarmouth CHS to Derby Litchurch Lane. This suggests it could be Eastern Rail Services stock? https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:U78499/2026-02-28/detailed

Old Oak Common - Level Boarding for Elizabeth Line trains

Some places, like in the Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit in America, have addressed the issue of freight vs high platforms by using gauntlet track to provide a platform avoiding loop in a small space. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonoma%E2%80%93Marin_Area_Rail_Transit#Stations

EMR Meridians Coach D - Partially declassified?

There should also be stickers on the inside of the windows indicating the declassified area, but again most of these have gone missing too!

Group seeking to purchase a class 317 to convert to a 210 DEMU.

I've just had a look at the underframe arrangement drawing for the Class 210 power cars, although they do not specify which power car or even if the two power cars differed on the underframe to accommodate the different engines. The solebars are typical MK3 derived EMU motor car, sharing overall...

Half a train of First Class? - EMR 222103

They do, but many of the "standard class" branded antimacassars and standard window stickers in the declassified areas are missing now. Both 222103 and 222104 are in the same formation with the former MCO declassified as all standard class and about one third of the former MFO declassified too.

Cross Country (XC) First Class service

IIRC he was later stuck in coach F because the train became full and standing in standard from Newcastle and he then left at York and wasn't relieved as it was the 1708 from EDB on a Sunday. I could understand having separate sandwich stocks, but if he'd just explained that to me instead of...

Cross Country (XC) First Class service

I was on an Edinburgh to Derby service and the man with the trolley wheeled it through 1st to the galley/TM area then started serving people in 1st from a tray. I asked about sandwiches as I'd seen some on the trolley when he first went past. He said he didn't have any left (so I assumed someone...
