Indeed. I know a few years back now a lot of GWR candidates who had been in the talent pool for 5 years received an email saying that all positions had been filled and that there were no more opportunities, so if they wanted a position they'd have to re-apply all over again. Best piece of...
We started training two weeks ago, there's eight of us on our course. Classroom size appears to be the main limitation, as all the tables have to be suitably spaced. On the occasions GWR are arranging taxis for us, it's one taxi per candidate, we're not allowed to share due to Covid. Think...
Best advice I can give mate is just hang on in there - I applied back end of 2017, tests and interviews all passed 2018 and eventually got pulled out the pool in June just gone. Starting this autumn :)
Does anyone know how long it is between passing the medical and receiving your contract for GWR? Anyone else received theirs yet for September '21 start?
Does anyone know which TOCs put internals before externals/and or pick out candidates in order of their scores? GWR I know do both of these, yet EMT seem to have a 'once you're in the pool, you're in and we'll pull you out in order of when you entered.' Anyone know what Northern are like in this...
Ok good good, this sounds pretty much what I was expecting :) Hey congratulations on passing out! I imagine you're thrilled! Hard work but it's clearly paid off ;)

Can put life on hold no problem (this year's been great training in that regard)! I was wondering more about the rules & regulations, how are you tested before moving onto the next module etc?
That's good news about the weight :) I have (incredibly mild) asthma but I literally only take my inhaler for about 2 weeks of the year in summer when it gets stupidly hot and there's no air. Was concerned it might set alarm bells ringing when I told them but not worried now, thanks! Any tips...
Thanks Nonuts, that's put my mind at ease. My BMI is 27.3 at the moment but I've managed to avoid Christmas sweets and treats so far! Do they ask about medical conditions such as asthma?

Ah, so you still got the job then despite not being at a BMI of 25? That's cool, I still want to...
Is anybody who has completed the entire recruitment process able to offer advice on what to expect at a medical? Currently losing some weight as I want my BMI to be bang on. Imagine there's also a hearing/eye test? Do they require medical records etc? Any assistance would be much appreciated...
