As a genuine curiosity woupd anyone be able to describe what happens when a tree is spotted fouling the line. Is there a team the driver or signaller will refer to who then assess and deal the tree in question?
Back in my uni days. Was always a fan of The Victoria in Beeston. Nice choicecho local ales and outdoor area backing onto the platform where there was a good variety of rolling stock.
So if I understand correctly the omission of pointwork would mean turn back is impossible as effectively a train could only use the same line it entered the station on?
How does shortening the tunnel to the west of the airport affect the ability to turnaround trains? Could someone explain how this would work and which turnarounds would be missed or lost.

The Great Western Railway
The district railway
The central London railway
The GWR and district were definitely separate stations. Does anyone know about the Central?
Fair enough. You wouldn't want to reintroduce conflicts that had just been resolved. Is it that part of the line between Hounslow and Twickenham which is most constrained? The rest looks as self-contained as terminating at Hounslow would be (assuming a new terminating platform at Twickenham).
Out of interest, would there be a better case for terminating the Southern end at Twickenham rather than Hounslow? Could platform 2 be made a through platform to allow for this? If so is it possible to avoid significant path conflicts?

There is actually currently a proposal being explored by Hounslow Council to establish a London Overground connection from Brentford to Willesden via South Action re-using a curve near Kew Bridge.
