Either way ZEBRA funding was allocated to the 110 with BYDs ordered using this money so Arriva will need to do what they can to get them on the road. Its not unheard of to have new electric buses sitting unused for months or even years because of charging problems at depots
Dublin Bus took a large number of B9 E400s and Ulsterbus had some B7 E300s.
Plus IIRC there was some inquiries into bodying the B8RLE with a E200MMC body for Lothian around the time the Evoras were ordered but this never happened
It seems odd Rotala are doing this when they could potentially lose a big chunk of their main West Midlands operation to franchising, surely you would want to keep Preston and the Heathrow operations healthy to balance out any losses
Interesting they haven’t purchased TM’s Halfway depot (yet), unless its routes will be transferred to neighbouring Holbrook when franchising rolls around?
Additionally if you have only a few buses allocated to a longer distance route compared to the rest of the fleet, this would impact when the batteries need replacing so its better to spread the buses across all routes to equate the milage
