    Ember: Electric coach service

I'm confused - E19 can't just be a depot run can it? The frequency it currently runs at suggests the buses constantly need to get back to base? I thought if it was depot runs then it would be like E12 which is sporadic in that it is funny times, big gaps in service and is no intermediate stops.

    Stagecoach West Scotland

Thanks NorthClyde320 and Metal Mickey. That's exactly what I was wondering... some stipulation from NHS/SPT had Stagecoach obligated to run the X19, hence the arrangement with WCM to avoid failing to do so. If McGills fulfil that obligation with the 23 then Stagecoach will be free to just...

    Stagecoach West Scotland

Is Stagecoach locked in to running the X19 as a result of anything from the SPT/FastLink days? I thought there was a grant involved from SPT for the X19 to be extended via the FastLink to QEUH but that feels like 10+ years ago? Just trying to figure out why Stagecoach still want to be seen to...

Your favourite bus/coach livery, past or present.

It's like one of these weird assessment tests you do... when I looked at it on buses/paperwork back in my days with them, it looked like a chicken to me.. orange bits were combs and wattles (according to Google, that is what they are called) and the white dot - which was Perth HQ - was the eye...

Your favourite bus/coach livery, past or present.

Got to be 1980s Stagecoach Stripes. Has to have the original Stagecoach logo/lettering emblazoned on the side... large... or the original Magicbus logo if you were in Glasgow. That livery got applied to a whole host of vehicles... Skyliners, Duple/Plaxton coaches, Routemasters, Lodekkas...

    High-Spec Coaches on Local Services

After deregulation/1986 when a then young Stagecoach of Perth and Strathtay Scottish shared running the service 16 between Perth and Dundee via all the villages in the Carse of Gowrie, the 22.10 from Perth to Dundee was actually the Stagecoach express service that left either Edinburgh or...

    McGill's Buses - Renfrewshire & Inverclyde

Granted, just personal opinion, but if the way to commute from Inverclyde to Glasgow was a local bus going to a station and then taking a train to Glasgow Central, and the same on reverse, then I'd likely would not have moved to Inverclyde or if I had I'd have been commuting by car. Why...

3rd round of Scottish Zero Emission funding announced

I kind of think McGills have a point in their argument. Setting aside whether the buses are built in Scotland or China (and McGills do suggest they were willing to go with the former contrary to what they have done in the past and their view of the Yutong quality being better than everyone...

    Fire at Glasgow Central (08/03/26)

In the absence of a 'Like' button, hear hear! I reckon the city is lucky today that the station and the hotel and the building above the Union Street entrance are largely intact. A blaze that size could have jumped walls and fire breaks and the fact that it was contained to the one building...

ScotRail to introduce £10 minimum fare for those not buying before boarding

"It is anticipated that this change will also help to reduce anti-social behaviour on the railway, which is often caused by a small minority travelling without a ticket." If they are not being asked/challenged presently on the train to pay the existing fares... and they know that hence they...

    McGill's Buses - Renfrewshire & Inverclyde

Thankfully no casualties according to the report here: https://www.inverclydenow.com/main-road-shut-as-bus-goes-up-in-flames-in-greenock/ But based on that photo, 3347 is well gone.

    McGill’s Midland Bluebird

Risking derailing the topic but.... just an observation but is the difference not the method of delivery of the apology for want of a better phrase. On a train or plane the driver/pilot comes over a one-way PA system to say 'sorry, delayed due to ...' and that is it. Apology delivered to the...

SPT consultation for Buchanan Bus Station

I assumed the small section of stances were the 'prime' ones for Citylink/Ember/Flixbus but then what arguments start when (say) McGills/Clydeflyer get kicked further away from the building to the other stances - they currently have prime stances because they are ex-Citylink routes - and then...

Bus routes operated on behalf of another bus operator.

Can think of one historical example though not sure why it came about. Stagecoach Glasgow started motorway services down the M77 to Pollok/Darnley/Nitshill in the late 90s... X8/9/10, the X8 today still remains albeit run by First. Anyway, Stagecoach started it themselves and then handed...

    Railway Bridge Adverts.

One from Paisley/Elderslie area... The other side says "Talbot Linwood Plant" and dates back to when there was the car factory there. Always thought it would be best cleaned up and restored as a nod to the industrial heritage of the area.
