I've noticed that the Brighton to Southampton services that now run half-hourly, are often Gatwick Express 377 units. Does GX have excess stock or is Southern short? It's somewhat misleading at Southampton to see Gatwick Express trains that don't go to Gatwick.

Actually Redbridge has one scheduled EMU service in the morning rush hour towards Poole. There used to be one that stopped at Millbrook on the way to Branksome nut that disappeared with covid.

My nearest station is Millbrook (Southampton). Although the line is fully 3rd rail electrified, the only scheduled stopping services are DMU's. Are there any other stations like this?

I think that's the case. I'd just noticed it was running via Eastleigh again recently.

Thanks again. It has run via Eastleigh recently - I think it did yesterday, but the fact that it's only running 'as required' would explain why it's not in the timetables.

Every day Southern 1Y65 stops at Southampton Parkway and Eastleigh (14:35) but is not shown on the departure boards. It's listed as stopping for 'other operating reasons'. As I understand it the route goes via Eastleigh to maintain route knowledge and to give space to the Gt Malvern to Brighton...

Does Exeter count? One direction to London Paddington with GWR and the opposite direction to London Waterloo with SWR.

I was on the SWR to Salisbury on 3A. The 10:42 came from behind and went past me from platform 4. I'm beginning to think it was just my imagination ... 1600952390 It must have been in old GWR livery and that confused me - thanks

Southampton station. I was on a local train and the Gt Malvern 10.42 passed me in what looked like old SWR livery (red blue yellow)

I thought I saw a SWR DMU running the Brighton to Great Malvern route this morning. Can anyone confirm or was it poor eyesight from another train?

Local news seems to be saying the line will re-open by the end of March, but NR still says 30 April. Does anyone know which is correct?
