Many thanks all, the Farringdon route worked well (apart from me being at the back of the Thameslink train coming in and having to battle through the crowds on the platform, which was obviously my fault!).
I'm fortunately physically able and I'll only have a backpack and Ryanair-sized wheeled suitcase so no bother with the stairs.

Would it be possible for me to buy a GroupSave ticket to Birmingham from Littlehampton provided we used Chiltern or LM from London?
I assume it is, per the GroupSave Map, but I can't force it to show on the ticketing sites.

Some peak workings are 158s yes, as the usual 450 is needed to bolster trains to London. Once the peak is over the 450 is split from the other units at (I believe) Portsmouth & SS and takes over.
Somebody has been hit by a train at New Malden. Waterloo looks chaotic on LDB, no times, just "Delayed" next to nearly everything.
edit: Just seen the other thread, only Ctrl+F'd for Waterloo.
