Plenty of other cities in Europe have cashless public transport for many years now. I hadn't realised London was the only one to do it here.
It will of course upset the conspiracy theorists and people who incorrectly think cash is king, but we cant appease luddites forever.
Anyone buying a...
I suspect this wouldn't go down very well which is why it hasn't happened, but now tap and go is fully rolled out it's time to end the sale of singles.
Yesterday on a few trips around Norwich all delays were caused by people insisting on buying a single. Most paid by card but once paid by cash...
Yes, I don't use buses much any more and it keeps happening. The reader by the door not working for tap out and then having to use the drivers ticketer machine seems to be a major cause.
Central Connect and Konect Bus before them at least show journeys in their app and were relatively helpful...
I don't disagree but again a Stansted Express service can have either variant of a 745 or a 720 and a Liverpool St - Norwich service can have either variant of a 745 or 3x local 755's.
Branding is utterly pointless in Anglia at the moment until they figure out a long term solution.
It seems somewhat pointless to keep the Stansted Express livery too, considering the constant mixing of the two 745 subfleets and that a 720 can also sub in to Stansted (or 3 755's to Norwich).
First in Norwich have really pulled their socks up over the past 8 years ago, ancient buses retired and punctuality much improved. The drivers seem much happier and friendlier too. The grants for the electric buses and extended routes helped of course but it's quite nice to travel on now, when...
One of the GA staff can answer more accurately but the ex GA (One / Anglia Railways) three car units had first class from the crosslink services
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Crosslink
I don't think the two cars used on the Cambridge service had 1st and when crosslink ended they all got...
Agree. They are really comfortable seats though, I much prefer them to the 80x series and the mk3 seats.
My only issue is luggage space - especially on the 755s doing Stansted airport runs there are no racks and you cant put your suitcase under the seats due to this bar. Overhead racks are fine...
Has anyone had to re-register for the First app? Not a regular user any more but had an account for years from my pre covid commuting days that was still active last year.
The app also seems to have no provision for viewing tap and go journeys, whilst other operators using ticketer have no...
In Norwich some of Konect's knackered double decker's seem to have been repalced by equally kanckered single decker's. New timetables with reduced service have also been introduced.
The name and reputation is so tarnished from the independent days a rebrand is probably needed along with new...
I use these when travelling away for a couple of days but if I'm going to / from Stansted I have a suitcase I want to check in that can be close to 20 kg (I load up on the way back with treats!) and mines quite small, you see families with huge ones. Really most people are going to struggle to...
720's already operate some Stansted services don't they? The 755's could really do with some luggage racks too, on the Stansted route they get rammed so you either try and jam your suitcase in the seats with you, slide it underneath where it hits the support bar or put it in the cycle area then...
I gave Konect a go this week. I live on an ex Anglian route that then became Konect. The drivers were always good and vehicles clean. Under Go Ahead as above the vehicles were all swapped out for life expired vehicles cascaded in from elsewhere, usually filthy inside and outside. Drivers seemed...
