Abuse to the 'Push' buttons on trains.

323s are probably the more easier buttons to grasp for the newcomers to the train. When the green LEDs, in a rather nice circular arrangement, along the circumference of the button light up then you can open the door. Simples. I do find the inclusion of a "close button" a little annoying, if...

Oh dear, nobody wants to pay for anything

Generally, I prefer to buy my music from HMV, or Amazon if it's an obscure ambient/electronic piece that doesn't seem to available anywhere. Not because of quality, but because of Digital Rights Management (DRM). Anything you download from iTunes can only be played on certain devices and...

    Best place to see Pendolinos

Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly would be good bets. Crewe has nearly all Pendo services going through the station, bar the Euston-Stoke-Manc and Euston-Birmingham services, so that would be a prime spot for a bit of Pendo spotting, plus if you're into it, you could make a nice "art-sy" photo, so...

    Northern

Despite a number of complaints to Northern I have made in the past, I honestly will say they have done a brilliant job with the stock they have - bordering on an understatement I think. As a passenger who primarily uses 323s (and the occasional 142), I will say that the only thing wrong...

    Train Adverts

"When was the last time you saw a train have a puncture...?" Never. But you could argue that bald spots on the wheels count, couldn't you?

    In the dirt...

Interesting point at the bottom as well. Three Pendos "damaged at the hands of NR". Although, in this case certainly, "damaged" would be too weak to describe the '390' involved in this shunt...

What do you do on the train?

Usually find myself listening to my MP3 player whilst looking out of the window. Don't really read the paper or anything on the train because it's difficult enough for me to read the small, squashed print whilst the train is running over some points. Tend to get the forward seat as I...

Why cram onto a 2-car 165 at Hayes and Harlington...

Opposite occurs for me. Since a rather bad experience on a rush hour service to Uni, I've always taken a train which leaves my station 40 minutes earlier so I'm effectively beating the peak of the rush hour by getting into Manchester by about 20 to 7. Plenty of room on the service and, if...

Direct line from Chester - Manc Airport?

Indeed, Bran. That's the question, IF Sandbach-Northwich is reopened. Seems costling to me because the whole purpose of reopening that line atm is to put Middlewich back on the railroad map. One could also say Sandbach could get a third train every hour which would be very impressive. But first...

    Class 180's to.....Northern?

As predicted. However, I still thank you for the correction and is duly noted for the future.

    Class 180's to.....Northern?

 But to be fair, it's pretty difficult to block out the noise of a 1000+ bhp (Someone will correct me on that figure, I reckon :p) on the Sprinters, though. Although the 323 has a pleasant noise, never been on a 333 so can't really say. :|

Creepy. \o/ I'll try. You want a sign saying "Hello Mintona" as well?

Ha! I'm pretty sure, although the Northern Rail charter says nothing about putting your feet on them black radiators on the 323s, does it? When? The day I wrote it, I swore that was you although I couldn't quite make out the nametag. I couldn't really pluck up the courage to wave at you...

New station needed in mid cheshire

Yes, obviously there are people who disagree with me but I've come across a number of these people and, discounting yourself jcollins , they are: selfish, obnoxious, don't listen to reason and are complaining about an industry in which they don't fully understand the mechanics of. I wish...

New station needed in mid cheshire

As I've said in a previous topic. The line speed on the Sandbach-Northwich branch is 20mph - it's quicker going by bus than that service if it existed. Not only that, but how exactly would opening Middlewich station do any good? Northern are already at full stretch in terms of units used...
