Correct , I’ve been staying in Spittal for a few days and my sat nav took me over it at 10.20pm !!! But it’s not needed really as other wider routes into Spittal
I wear hearing aids and to me it’s nonsense that I’m eligible for a railcard but thems the rules so I make use of it , on a side note at ticket checks I’ve been asked once to show my card !! Once in 5 years
Pre pandemic there used to be a 23.00 Euston to Piccadilly which ran slow all the way and was set down only at stoke , macc and Stockport , I assume it was some stock movement ??? I used it once after West Ham v macc caraboa cup match
For many years congleton station has had a rather rundown and unloved appearance yet in the 80s it was manned from first to last train and kept lovingly winning awards iirc. Thankyou for your words regarding the pub next door where I am the chef
Glasgow central is just fab to arrive at it has such atmosphere!!! Also love York, Bristol TM, Paddington and fave little station is castle Cary , hate Euston and new st , also like Stoke - on-Trent with it NS railway architecture
So many grim lonely stations out there but rugby and it’s fallen importance yet still vast platforms is up there , changing trains at kidsgrove can be grim and my hometown station of congleton is bleak bleak bleak but the fantastic pub the queens is next door
