    Ryde Hoverport to mainland advances

Something else to be aware of is that Hovertravel often run late, particularly during a busy afternoon. Personally I catch an earlier hover if I can to avoid missing my (separately boked) train connection. As you plan to use a through ticket you should have some protection though.

    Ryde Hoverport to mainland advances

Hovertravel are generally pretty relaxed about using an earlier than booked service on their own tickets, as long as they have space. I would expect them to have the same attitude to through tickets as all they ever ask (before looking at tickets) is which service are you booked on.

    EMR First Class Food

I had the "Cream Tea" box on Tuesday on an 810 from Sheffield to London. In itself it was fine. Moist scone, jam and reasonably nice cream in a pot together with a shortbreat biscuit. Fortunately I had brough my own sandwich for lunch, being aware of the minimalist catering on EMR 1st. Having...

Tap On Tap Off - Is Overcharging Common?

Yes, the Hovertravel stop is the terminus and I’m pretty sure that is what happened. Fundamentally it is a training issue as the driver shouldn’t reset until after all the passengers have got off. Also, the refund agent should not have put the blame on me.

I used the H1 First Portsmouth service last week. I tapped on at the City Shops South bus stop and attempted to tap off at the Hovertravel stop. The tap off machine didn’t register so the driver asked me to tap off on his ticket machine. This second tap was only 8 minutes after the first and on...

Denied Boarding Hovertravel Portsmouth to Ryde

At the moment the ETS carbon tax only applies to vessels over a certain size. Wightlink’s Portsmouth - Fishbourne route is the only Isle of Wight route affected. Wightlink are recovering it through a surcharge on that route only.

Denied Boarding Hovertravel Portsmouth to Ryde

I suspect that the real issue here is that there is no link between the railway and hovercraft ticketing/booking systems. The railway system sells the tickets but I think that Hovertravel don’t know anything about these passengets until they arrive at the terminal. Later, of course, they get a...
