Stagecoach North Scotland services 36 & 37A reverse in Craigellachie on the Elgin - Dufftown/Aviemore services.

Obviously it gives it a run to prove the work that’s been done is ok but, is there any other reason for it to go light engine all the way to London. Surely the engines that worked in on the previous services are already in situ. just a question!

(edited to tidy up predictive text) The sleeper has got better lately in continuing the journey where possible. It must have been a real problem if the rescue loco couldn't continue with the train, albeit late.

I’m on the sleeper tonight from Inverness and have been looking at traction - according to RTT the incoming portion from Edinburgh is load 8 with a single 73 (73970] hauling it. But the Aberdeen portion has load 4, and is also hauled by 73970. Any have an idea as to what is in Inverness for...

Not only that but to have the extra 2 coaches work all the way though would cause problems, length wise 16 + 2 locos (one at each end) only just fits in Euston - two more would be a real problem. Though not just there - I imagine there are lots of other places where 18 coaches plus a loco...

Well, in the 30years I drove rail replacement services I can definitely say it happened more frequently than you may think!

Many moons ago during the resignalling between Chichester and Havant (late 80’s if memory serves correct) rail replacement services stopping at intermediate stations were ‘crewed’ using RPI’s - as they were then called. They acted as conductors.

Signal problems at Abington apparently! Our eta into Euston is just after 10. Not the latest it’s been - we did sit at Edinburgh for some time.
