    Ilkley really went to town in removing all traces of the course of this route, which is understandable as the route divided the town centre to some extent.     We are geographically small, population dense Country. Suited to Passenger traffic more than freight. USA is the opposite and has much higher freight percentage.

    They are many more deserving schemes than this in Scotland alone. Since the ferries moved to Cainryan, Stranraer is not exactly a busy port and the existing line struggles. Surviving line also connects with the Scottish central belt whilst the “Port Road” goes via Dumfries. This makes sense...

    Kirkstall Forge closed 1905. Reopened within 100 yards in 2016.

    Using station as pedestrian through-route

    At Knaresborough the subway near the level crossing which acts as the link between the platforms is divided by Victorian looking railings down the centre as it also acts as a public through route from Kirkgate to Water Bag Bank.
