Just to assist a little with understanding the issue;
Once the roof space gets too hot the air con has safety systems built in to prevent it running as it may have a fault. There are mods being trialled to attempt to negate this issue but they take time to test and prove before being rolled...
It may be a couple of weeks yet. There are inspections and adjustments required at the depot to allow it to be signed off ready for service. These checks are more in depth than those that allow the unit to return ECS to Salisbury.
I suspect the delay may be partially due to ironing out minimum pay rise threshold, something that didn't apply to the drivers rise.
As has been mentioned several times, it would create a great deal of bad feeling by agreeing drivers rise then messing the rest about.
As a local agreement SWR staff (I am unsure if this is extended to all First Group) get priv on Red Funnel, Wightlink and Hovertravel (foot passenger) and discount with a car. I know not a TOC but useful information none-the-less.
SWR also gets Island Line.
Worth noting that different TOCs have different pay anniversary dates. So the 2022 backpay may be less than what is being quoted here,just in case anyone was making financial decisions based on it.
I know our TOC will allow you (with a local agreement with a manager) train variance, basically to allow you to start/finish earlier/later within reason as long as you do your contracted hours.
