Ha! Thanks. It’s ok, I’m familiar with the area (BHX-based crew!) so know my way around reasonably well.
No doubt I’ll take a wrong turn tomorrow morning now I’ve said that…
Hello all, we're making a family trip to London tomorrow. Stupidly I didn't book the car park when I booked the rail tickets, and only just went to do it - and the Avanti website is telling me car park pre-booking is now sold out, although "spaces may be available on the day."
Does anyone have...
The 7-year-old holds a Nimbus Disability Access card - last time we went, the customer service staff were very helpful and happy to give us the platform early and send us down the ramp before it went up on the boards, meaning we weren’t caught up in the stampede. Hopefully that will be the same...
Hi everyone, I’m looking for the best options for a day trip to London with the family.
We’re in north Birmingham (Sutton Coldfield) travelling with 3 children under 10. We did it last April, parking at Birmingham International for the day and travelling from there - the youngest was still 4 so...
I’ve booked National Express for my trip. Cheaper than the train, not THAT much slower overall, and guaranteed seats. If I was travelling with a kid I’d definitely do that over attempting a potentially wedged train for 2hrs.
Thanks to those who replied. Glad I asked, and now researching contingency plans.
XC/GWR Brum-Oxford-Reading-Paddington, National Express/Flixbus or just put up with the WCML replacement bus are all options. Long journey times are annoying but fortunately not too much of an issue on this...
Anyone know what the loads on the trains are like now people are heading back to work?
I’m heading down to London for the darts on Friday afternoon from Moor St - departures every half hour when I need to go - and just wondering if I’ll be able to board my preferred service / get a seat / need...
Must say, the advertising algorithm is working very well on this page!
(Attached screenshot shows an advert from immediately below this thread for a cable supplier with an image of a multitude of cut cables showing their cross-section and a large “Save 50% on surplus cables” message)
Well I needn’t have bothered anyway - at no point during the journey did anyone ask to see any ticket, first upgrade or otherwise!
Barriers at both ends, but as far as the upgrade goes, I could have had a nice first class journey on a standard ticket including a free drink and nobody would have...
Hello all, very quick one. If I’m travelling from Birmingham to Bristol on a split standard class ticket (both walk-up fares, no Advances), can I upgrade to first using Seatfrog with a single upgrade for the entire journey? Or, do I need essentially two upgrades - one of each portion of the...
If I may… EMR also operates between Chesterfield and Derby, where as the current map shows EMR turning towards Nottingham south of Chesterfield, and only XC heading south to Derby.
Impressive piece of work nevertheless.
It’s the London Marathon too… I think I would be giving most London terminals a VERY wide berth that day, but especially any where it’s added to football traffic.
