Unable to provide rail card proof with purchased ticket

    It's still correct. https://web.archive.org/web/20150214021418/http://blog.oxforddictionaries.com/2011/03/ize-or-ise/

Just to mention that both "realize" and "realise" are correct spellings in British English.

Last two trains cancelled tonight from Gatwick to Brighton

When I saw that the two final trains of the day were showing as cancelled (but before I had seen the possible rail replacement bus), I bought the National Express tickets as I didn't want to be stuck at Gatwick for hour or face a hugely expensive taxi fare. I had little faith that the rail...

Yep, plus I've got a checked-in bag, plus I've got to get from the North Terminal to the train station at the South Terminal. Fingers crossed! 1688073277 Cripes. Did you manage to get them to refund you for a taxi in your situation?

Last two trains cancelled tonight from Gatwick to Brighton

Yes, if I catch it, which seems doubtful currently! (Although that is showing currently as 21 minutes late, which, if it runs all the way to Brighton, would be preferable to the dreaded bus. And I might have a chance of catching it).

Ah, thank you. Didn't think to click on that. The fabled Rail Replacement Bus it is, then.

Last two trains cancelled tonight from Gatwick to Brighton

My flight into Gatwick tonight is delayed by an hour and the last two trains to Brighton are showing as cancelled: dep -- arr 00:49 -- 01:16 01:58 -- 02:28 https://traintimes.org.uk/gtw/Btn/02:28a/2023-06-30 Short of paying for the National Express at 2am, might I expect Thameslink to lay on a...

Possible ticket from Brighton valid to either St Albans Abbey (via Watford Jn) or St Albans City?

Thanks all. It's for a job -- it'll be a taxi journey of either 3 miles from Watford Jn or 9 miles from St Albans. It'll be after 11pm that I'm arriving, and I'd rather just sit on the train all the way from Brighton. The train fare is pretty cheap with a Network Railcard, so they probably...

Fare Dodging - the new national sport?

Confession: in 1996 I travelled without a ticket from Harringay to Hornsey. I got nabbed by an inspector on the train and ran away from him and out of the station when the train arrived in. He yelled something after me about it being an illegal act. I didn't have enough cash to buy a ticket...

Possible ticket from Brighton valid to either St Albans Abbey (via Watford Jn) or St Albans City?

My intended destinations are either Watford Junction or St Albans City. I've done the walk from St Pancras to Euston quite often but I want to avoid it on this occasion. Would a ticket from Brighton to St Albans [City] be valid for this route: Brighton - East Croydon - Watford Junction - St...

Fare Dodging - the new national sport?

I've heard from people quite a few times: "Nobody checked my ticket [and/or "the barriers were open]. I needn't have bothered buying one [and will think twice about buying one next time]". With the implication that it would be perfectly fine to just travel for free if you weren't going to have...

Possible ticket from Brighton valid to either St Albans Abbey (via Watford Jn) or St Albans City?

I wonder: is it possible to get an Off Peak Return from Brighton to either Watford Junction or St Albans City, also allowing the return to Brighton to start from either of these stations? Reasoning behind it: there's just one connection an hour from Brighton to Watford Junction, changing at...
