Going back to Sundays in the late 90s and early 2000s, the two-hourly year-round Hope Valley stoppers ran via Marple, while the additional summer Sunday journeys that made the service up to hourly overall ran via Stockport. It may be this regular arrangement that the OP is thinking of. Jeff

I caught up with 230006 this morning, catching it from Shotton to Bidston. Ran much the same as the other examples until we got to Upton, whereupon the engines were shut down and we proceeded to Bidston on battery power alone. I think that might be progress! Jeff

About 15-20 years ago I emailed both GMPTE (as TfGM was) and Warrington Borough Transport (now WOB) to ask the same question. GMPTE said no, WBT said yes. I suspect that as WBT ran so little outside of the Wayfarer area they thought it would be simpler for their drivers if they just accepted...

The tickets are mentioned in the 2022 edition of the X93/X94 timetable along with an inter-available day ranger from the Teesside end. I would assume they feature in this years edition too, but I've not got a copy. Jeff

I caught 230007 on that trip as far as Heswall where it picked up further passengers and carried on, so something is clearly amiss with the RTT data. Was due to terminate at Wrexham General anyway as the next round trip was showing as cancelled due to lack of crew. Jeff

230007 is out today and has been out at least once before. 230006 appears to be missing some gen sets. Jeff

A recently put-up paper notice in the ticket office at Newton-le-Willows advises that overnight parking is allowed for rail users. I've done it a couple of times without issue. Jeff
