Penalty fare issued (Preston Park to Elephant & Castle)

I was running late for the train so just managed to get onto it. I have done that before and been able to pay for the journey on the train. At no point was I trying to avoid paying the fare and if I wanted to I could have hidden between Blackfriars and Elephant and Castle, which is one stop...
