BVE4 how do I make the trains move

I have BVE 4 and several routes and trains installed I have no trouble operating the Uchibo line the trainruns great but when I go to the other routes I cannot get the train to move. I take the EMG off and then start the engine if it is not already running then I wait for the gaurd to signal me...
