Ah that makes sense, thank you. Only twigged it when my coach was one further down the platform than usual
Hope the OP gets what they need/want, I'm not up on all the terminology but I think it is the measuring train that's sat at NCL this morning.
Was waiting to board the 07:01 to Kings Cross at Central this morning. Searching for something else on the forum (why this train I'm on is comprised of 2 x 5s, haven't seen that before in 5 years of doing this commute).
Saw your thread - there was a 125 waiting on the far side of the tracks...
I've had a hideous run down on the flying Scotsman this morning.
Train nowhere near capacity but I'd booked through work's portal and forgot to try and get my usual standard seat in the rear half of coach K. I've done the journey over 100 times, majority in coach K (creature of habit I guess)...
That made me smile @hexagon789 - it's absolute pot luck but when it works, it works extremely well in its current format.
To your point though, I've had plenty of times I've either been
~25 mins delayed.
Getting there to find it's cancelled and getting the 06:55 instead, arriving 10:02 and...
Cheers. Damn, there goes most chance of being in The City by 10am then, was always a bit of a close shave even if the Flying Scotsman was on time into KGX! (I'm constrained by the Tyne and Wear metro and the ~5:30am services from the coast into town frequently don't run). Appreciate that's a...
Sorry if I'm completely mis-reading this draft timetable as I'm no expert on any of this, but I don't understand what's become of the Flying Scotsman service? Is the subtext that by making more journeys quicker, there is no longer a need for the titular service...
I was grateful that I abandoned ship shortly after 19:30 and went across to St Pancras with about 10 mins to spare. I did get a seat on the 20:02 EMR train, but there was zero usable mobile data signal (and very patchy mobile phone signal) - unsure if a result of the extra passenger count, the...
The automated delay repay hasn't kicked in for me despite the cancellation. Hasn't worked for a while in fairness. I've logged it manually as last time I had any kind of refund, they managed to wipe out my Perks balance in the process (I'd part paid using Perks, and the updated balance was just...
Got caught up in all this yesterday evening, was due to take the 1900 KGX to NCL.
At 7:30 with no real update, abandoned ship and got the EMR up to Chesterfield. Not sure what the mobile phone data signal is usually like on that route but had no chance given how busy the train was. The...
I'm further out into North Tyneside than you so realistically, 06:55 is the first one I can get if using the Metro to get to Central.
LNER have made it clear before that the 07:04 is the fall guy when there are issues or delays - most people booked on the 07:04 are likely to be at the station...
I've not tried for a first class upgrade for years, what kind of price are they landing at? Still about £30-40?
They did come back to me with quite a detailed reply, and showed an example where a Friday switch was still possible for £10. So definitely based on peak demand (or therefore lack...
I've used Seatfrog maybe 20 times in the past, on the NCL <> KGX route. Last used it Dec 2023.
Typically I've used it to get on the 07:04 Flying Scotsman, having originally held a ticket for the significantly slower 07:30.
I've also used it going back up north, again usually changing from an...
Thanks - No there’s a dealer (Auto Sussex) just across the way, but it looks like it’s a case of walking 3/4s of the way around, as there are fields in the way.
Less than a couple of miles so hopefully not raining.

Well, to close out the thread, Southern did the honourable thing and...
Well after all that, with 48 hours to go they finally released some advance tickets. Sorted for £8.50 and have requested a refund on the other. Thanks for all the help
Thank you, just wasn’t sure if the previous guidance was for convenience of picking up at a different station, or a means of avoiding a potential problem. Hopefully all good to go unless there’s a timetabling or maintenance surprise!
