Why doesn't Ripon have a train line towards Harrogate or York?

There has been a campaign with Dr Adrian Morgan involved for a good 30-35 years. He has really pushed this campaign in his various capacities and offices held in the local community. I understand he has a user account on here. Efforts have been made. About four weeks ago, Gareth Dennis covered...

Set down only - 2230 Birmingham New Street to Worcester Foregate Street

I don’t know the area or the operator. This train is routed via Kings Heath. I assume that making Droitwich set down only means that they can keep moving if they clear through that route quickly (or take the direct route) and not wait time blocking a platform. Is this train used to maintain...

Should 'Combined Authorities' be allowed to build stations on the UK rail network ?

RE: Kirkstall Forge-Apperley Bridge; Are these numbers passengers or full fares? Apperley Bridge is next to Woodhouse Grove school, which I understand generates quite a bit of traffic. You aren’t taking your kids in your car that far out through Leeds traffic if you don’t have to.

mindthegates.uk - An Interesting Site on Level Crossings

Just looking at the Signal Box controlled crossing at Harrogate. Is it the walking route from the signal box?

Hull to halifax service to be split at leeds

I assume that this will mean that the service will have to become a false/penultimate destination service at the originating stations (eg destination is Bramley at Huddersfield)

    Wheel Lathe list

Kirkdale as well Anyone looking for a list (10 years old though) can find one here but you would want to validate it. https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/location-of-wheel-lathes.139256/

Northern services post TPU & new rolling stock

Also note that house could mean a few things. It is possible that many of trains are stabled in other places as they don’t need to visit their home depot every night.

Statistically is the UK railway network now less safe?

Trying to work out if passenger miles would be a measure to consider

Should car accidents have more prominent reporting?

I’m not sure that more prominent reporting would be that helpful. There are two points that come to mind. 1. Those drivers being prosecuted are bad drivers 2. I’m not a bad driver Whilst the first step in resolving a problem is recognising that you have got one, I would suggest that helping...

Norwood Junction dispatching incident: level boarding implications

I don’t travel on class 378’s but I would guess that any concerns about level boarding would be linked to the class 378 floor height, which I guess is a little higher than the level boarding specification that has been shared.

West coast mainline north blocked near wolverton 19.06.26

Assume you are on 1F33 1807 to Liverpool. Looks like you are just rolling into Milton Keynes. Failed train appears to be delayed 9K35 1716 London Euston - Crewe

    Class 08-e prototype

It looks like 08308 has been contracted to Loram Rail at Derby for shunting operations at their site. It has been repainted into Loram Rail livery. I understand that it is currently being displayed at the Rail Live event.

Reopenings - the positive narrative the railway industry needs !

Giving people more opportunities to encounter a risk because otherwise they rarely encounter the risk is not in my opinion really in the spirit of live and let live or the as low as reasonably possible principles of the Health and Safety at Work Act. Risk is usually measured in terms of...

    Fuel Shortages and Solutions

The fuel that diesel trains use is different to the jet fuel that planes use. Why is there a jet fuel shortage here? Is it an actual shortage of jet fuel or has something broken or leaked. Two airports next to each other with a fuel shortage suggests that it is to do with the local supply...
