Obviously the effects of leaf fall can be reduced by managing lineside vegetation, but is there any railhead treatment that is used to resist/prevent the formation of leaf mulch on the rail?

I regularly travel on one of Go North East's X40 Bendy buses.
A colleague raised a question about them and I've been puzzling over the answer since:
As they are a powered trailer and a 'dead' tractor so to speak, how come they do not jackknife often and easily?

Their performance has been appalling so quite right too. Failings from both parties without a doubt, but I don't think anyone will be surprised to hear this.
Noticed this week that the barroers at Haymarket appear to have been moved 4/5 foot or so back from their original position so there is more space between them and the escalators.
Consistency, do it for one line so do it for all. If there is a delay that will cause me to be more than a minute or two late then I'd expect some information on it, otherwise I don't really care if we have to stop at a red signal - it really isn't important.

London underground is a different kettle of fish entirely though. A lot more people will be anxious of being stopped in a dark tunnel many meters below the surface, whereas on Metro most of the places you'll be held are in the open air.

I'm more miffed about them arranging a meet the manager session on a weekday in office hours. No option for commuters who use the service everyday to get to work and back to have their say.
