They get a bad press on here but I found them invaluable. Yes a lot of the information is already out there, but the more you've got the better in my opinion. There's one on the managers interview which I thought was brilliant, I am hopeless at interviews and it was a great revision tool for me...
Wouldn't bother with the course but I'd definitely recommend the DVD (there's one for the managers interview, too). You can probably get the same info online but they both helped me no end. Can get them both cheaper on eBay

The point I was trying to make is that there are other considerations for becoming a train driver. Qualities such as humility, enthusiasm and honesty are probably just as desirable as current or previous work experience (in my opinion anyway).
