    Urgent TOPS Requests

66746 is currently at Leven, though another loco is coming from Craigentinny on 0Z85 to top and tail it to Falkland, though not yet allocated

"Remote" stations within an hour or two of Dundee

Running up to Brechin, and taking the Caledonian Railway to Bridge of Dun may be worth a punt, as there are few houses around this station, but plenty of train interest. It feels far more remote than it is…

    Non-Urgent TOPS Requests

Hi, can anyone advise the physical location of these two 777s? 777009 777024 Both show last moves to Southport, but I'm not 100% convinced! Thanks in advance..

    Progress with 345 071 - 345 080

Not really.... You'd have a slightly different sub fleet, and a redesign costs money - far better to make more of what in my experience is a good product that does exactly what is required. No goals were harmed in the making of these units...

    Your best ever gala?

The class 14 50th anniversary gala at East Lancs was an absolute hoot, and although just the one class had a real variety of traction make up including all the locos. Similarly the deltic 50th bash, well worth the travel! Maybe Tulyar will be available for the next one??

Edinburgh to Milton Keynes with short connection times at Bellshill and Motherwell, worth it?

The 15:27 departure from Edinburgh does show this fare for an advance itinerary via Bellshill and Motherwell, but only 6 minutes at Motherwell. So any delay on the Scotrail service will see a delay repay if time is not critical….

Francis Bourgeois and Chris Harris: We Saved a Train

The loco has been under overhaul in a well planned and controlled manner anyway, and to claim they “saved” anything is laughable apart from maybe money going to the Scottish Class 37 group toward this work. The 37 is at the SRPS site at Bo’ness but I’m not sure how much attention the producers...

    Merseyrail 777 introduction

I passed Kirkdale on Monday, and 777004 was being shunted by 020 into the shed, I assume for more parts to be removed, rather than being put back on. From the comments above, if the latter was to have happened then bunting would have been all over the depot!

    Scottish ‘Red pebbles’

It’s not quite inert, it’s actually quite acidic when used as backfill where metal structures have been placed. it was used to backfill several pipelines during the 60s/70s with the resulting corrosion being a major issue. That said, most of the M8 and M9 was built on a bed of it, as it’s has...

Bizarre Northern Powerhouse rail map issued

and here is where many issues are compounded - a lot of people just check if things are correct using - you guessed it - an AI generated summary that compounds the errors… there is no substitute for taking the time to check it yourself but that’s not the world that the tech giants want us to...

    Sheffield To Brighton Direct

So to summarise the above, this is a non starter as it stands. However, should the MML to Sheffield be electrified, it is possible for a 700 to reach there from Brighton, but would introduce many potential issues for the core (see any discussion on extending Elizabeth line services). So to come...
