Who's a volunteer on a Preserved Railway?

I have joined GCR Nottingham (Heritage Transport) & put down volunteer. I got an application for a work permit by return post! It requires a fair bit of filling in & 2 passport photo's... They are asking for qualifications eg PTS (whatever that is), medical qual's, train driver, crane operator...

boiler certificate

I used to inspect boilers for Nottingham Model Boat Club. These were tiny Cheddar boilers that hold a pint of water & work at 40psi lol! Are you talking boilers on full sixed loco's, assume you are... its a minefield of regulations but for working models, Northern Association of Model Engineers...
