When travelling in Europe I use a combination of Revolut (spending a € balance I've built up when the rate is good) and the Virgin Atlantic credit card (which has the remarkably unpublicised benefit of not charging fees when spending in the EU*)
I find Berlin to be the worst place in Germany at...
If your Brussels Eurostar is continuing to Amsterdam it’ll use the through platforms which allow an easier change than the terminating ones, and if you’re super lucky there’ll be a cross platform transfer.
More video coming out (not just regarding Madrid-Seville). The two X links below include various short clips of high speed trains on lines in Spain with very rough riding.

Quite a few videos emerging of apparently extremely rough riding on this section of line in recent weeks. Certainly rougher than I’ve ever witnessed on LGV Nord, for example.
From this photo of the Iryo, I too am struggling to work out the impact sequence bearing in mind the Alvia is nowhere to be seen. If one posits that the Alvia impacted carriages 6 and 7 of the Iryo, as it is fouling the other track, you’d expect it to derail away from the centre and be somewhere...
Happened to me almost exactly 12 months ago exactly as you describe - in my case, huge queues on a Sunday evening hardly moving - with almost zero passenger information.
As ever, priority for space / management thinking has recently been given to opening a large shiny duty free shop…which now...
I took my daughter (nearly 7 at the time) on a trip to the Brocken in February 2024.
We flew on the Friday of half term from Heathrow to Hannover arriving pretty late and then stayed for one night at the Maritim hotel which is connected to the terminal. The following morning it was an easy walk...
On the Eurostar website it says clearly that food and drink in Plus is London routes only. https://www.eurostar.com/uk-en/travel-info/eurostar-experience/travel-classes
You’re making a big assumption that Virgin will have three classes, which for Eurostar is simply a historical hangover. It’s perfectly possible that Virgin would have a first class service but have some ‘premium leisure’ level fares in the market which is where Eurostar pitches Plus.
Eurostar...
If I was Eurostar I’d milk the monopoly position for as long as I could get away with it to get the business in the right shape for a new competitive landscape, pay down debt etc.
Virgin should force them to up their game, like they did with BA back in the day, which is an exciting prospect.
The problem with these intermediate stops in general, but particularly Ashford, is that every seat you sell from them is one less seat you can sell from London. So you have to make your Ebbsfleet-Paris price identical to your London-Paris price otherwise you'll just reduce your yields. It makes...
If one gets the crayon out, a HS1 - WCML link could be built reasonably easily by re-instating four tracking of the NLL between the MML bridge and Kentish Town Road, and then moving the Overground onto the new track. Leaving the existing track for a HS1-WCML link. It would require demolition of...
