I have worked in construction previously, so was thinking about things like changing wheels on grinders where you have to follow a set procedure eg: isolate power, engage brake, unlock centre nut, remove old wheel, replace with new, locate into flange, tighten centre nut...
Hi all,
Can anyone offer any advice on what is the sort of answer being sought to the "having worked to rules and regulations" question at structured interview.
I am not sure what qualifies as an accepetable answer, and want to be prepared should I get through to this stage with my current...

Thanks Beveridges for the quick reply.
I mentioned the salary looking high as I had seen the trainee salaries for mainline, and they start with Northern about £5k lower than this but go up higher on qualification. It just seemed strange that this was higher at the outset? It must be a bit...
Hi Beveridges,
Great info as ever so keep up the good work.
Can I ask you if you know whether the current DD job at Allerton is a trainee role? The salary seems high for a trainee just starting out, although that certainly wouldn't stop me from applying!! I love the sound of such a varied...
Postman has just been to me, but nothing from Merseyrail...oh well I suppose that's that then! I hate the rollercoaster of emotions once you send your application in, hoping you will hear back and expectantly waiting, to be ultimately disappointed. Have to try and work out where I went wrong...
Nothing yet, but that's understandable given the likely volume they will be working through? If I hear anything I will post an update straight away, hopefully everyone else will do likewise! Good luck......
Thanks for this, it makes interesting reading. Seems like the new tests will be in place later this year so not much time left to try a second time on tests you would know and understand!
Jay Mc,
Do you know the starting salary for the Merseyrail Guard? I think the drop may be significant for you but the training period is much shorter than it is for a driver role, so you go back up again (hopefully) quite quickly!
Good Luck anyway!
What are the new assessments you mention NI?
Are these a new suite of tests or just one single replacement? Do we need to start revising now??

Sorry, forgot to mention......
A guy I know got through everything but got a bordeline pass on one...
Thanks JDT,
currently working on my cover letter and updated CV which I will send special delivery...so once I have submitted these I will get in touch for any info you can offer!
Is it just me, or is it difficult to locate any useful info regarding the Merseyrail Guard role? Google just...
Hi JTD,
I have only just joined the forums (been reading for some time though) so can't PM until I reach 5 posts!
Can you offer any help with the recruitment process etc for the Merseyrail guard vacancy?
Thanks
