Yeah exactly the case... I've travelled on train in Italy twice and they have both been on time, I'd never claim that Italy is any better than UK rail network though!

Fairly or unfairly, the main demand for England is between Birmingham/Manchester and London and it will be this way for many years to come. HS2 makes a little more sense than electrifying the whole of the GWR upto Swansea and Plymouth.

I agree. I think there needs to be an underground subway kind of thing to link all three. The tram link doesn't justify it for me. Surely an underground subway with some shops on the walk will provide a good incentive to offset the high costs?
