    ScotRail Class 170's

There is an ongoing refurbishment programs at the moment, however when the first example returned it was notice that the soot staining on the roof panels hadn't been dealt with. I'm unsure if that's been rectified since or not.

Is there really the demand to go from South Edinburgh to OT though? What's there that can't be gotten elsewhere? There is nothing unique about OT at the moment that would justify a major effort to increase services there especially considering it's pretty well served as it is. It's a convenient...

A disappointing raft of changes, and a real terms network reduction in East Lothian which has been an ongoing trend for a few years now. They can only get away with this for so long before they lose the little remaining support of the travelling public.

According to the published map for the route, it does continue to Rodney Street to turn. Not sure if it will serve any stops in doing so.

It's been reported on this forum that a lack of drivers has neccesitated the reduction in services at East Coast - yet they have stated that this is due to customer demand diminishing. Are we witnessing Lothian being internationally disingenuous to cover their own back?

I'm not sure the article implies that, but when this idea first came about the 44 operated via York Place so I suspect it's simply regurgitated slightly. The congestion issues at Picardy Place would negate any benefit of the bus lane changes.

Not wanting to get in the way of all the juicy service change chat, I'm also eagerly awaiting the news. https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/edinburgh-to-trial-7-7-7-bus-lanes-on-44-route-from-greenside-to-duddingston-8926411 EEN reporting implementation of the 7-7-7 bus lane trial...

I can only imagine them doing that if they intend to commence a new route between Royal Infirmary and Musselburgh, serving all of the new build housing in Millerhill and Old Craighall. That does appear to be the preferred method for outlying areas nowadays, run various local routes to connect...

    December 2026 Timetable Change

Considering that the Scottish crew are all Glasgow based and currently have to either pass through on Scotrail services or use taxis before/after service, it makes even more sense.

If they haven't advertised it by now I wouldn't have thought so. Did they do it last year?

As has been stated numerous times - the feed you're seeing in RTT is not final.

Equally, the 100 is busy enough as it is with airport travellers. They pay a premium for the express service so it shouldn't be diverting into local facilities IMO.

I live in Wallyford and always see the 44 bunched up in twos or threes by the time they get here. There's clearly reliable reliability issues on the route. Would it be worth curtailing the 44 short, say at The Jewel and running a service from City Centre to Wallyford, perhaps twice or three...

What is the problem with the OLE? Falling debris physically brought it down or intense heat melting components?
