Is Barrow expected to be getting a 6-car service? I guess it's simpler than the 2tph clockface timetable service that the line probably should have, but it could make sense on peak services
Still, passenger numbers would likely increase pretty dramatically if the service was improved to be...
I think the distinction for a "Trackless tram" is that it has a lot more dedicated right-of-way than most busways, and uses longer articulated vehicles.
I still think it's just a tram-like bus, rather than a trackless tram... but I can kinda see where they're going with the idea, as the vehicle...
And this is going to get significantly worse as EVs become more popular.
For two of us to get to London with a 2-together railcard is ~£160 (£120/person full fare). For us to drive to London is... about £25 (300 miles there = £4 after charging at home at £0.05/kWh. 300 miles back = £20 at a...
Wasn't there a time where that service continued through to Great Yarmouth? I want to say during the Central Trains days, circa 2002-2003 maybe?
Which would mean it reversed at Ely, Sheffield, and Norwich
I was pretty young at the time so it's possible I'm misremembering, and it's also...
I think Northern would get some 170s cascaded... if any were dropping down the food chain. They're still rather in demand, and Northern (along with Arriva) seem to get the tail end.
They should paint the lot in London Midland livery - I've no idea what their service is like, but any livery...
Have you ever tried a 142?
You have an option of "sweltering" or "ridiculously hot".
My vote goes for a degree or two below what "most" people find comfortable. Those who like it a little comfier will be fine, the others can bring a jumper or move around a little.
The Northern 156s are nicely done up, but they had the advantage of not being crap to start with. 142s, even with comfy seats, will still be noisy and bouncy, screech round corners and a bloody uncomfortable ride.
Replace any 142 with a 156/158 and watch customer satisfaction on that line soar...
To be honest, I doubt many northerners will be shocked by this, we've been sidelined, ignored and deprived of cash for a long time. I come from a town where the only major investment I've seen recently was one new building and an un-wanted one-way system.
As a regular user of both First TPE and...
