    Flashing Yellow Lights on S&C

They must worksite markerboards? The actual works are probably miles away They look like this: You are far more likely to see them when trains aren't running... There is no point taking possession of a line if you would need to give it up for a train to pass every 5min! --- old post...

    Nottingham 'Bus War'

I wonder how much of an impact the Yourbus services have had on Trents bottom line over the past couple of years? I've noticed the average age of their buses seems to be slipping ever older. The Skylink and Indigo are both looking rather tired. The skylink must be one of their busiest routes...

I'd be surprised to see the Y5 disappear, surely this is one of their main money making routes?

TB really do seem to have scaled back on the new bus orders over the last couple of years. Its got to be about time they got replaced the grotty solars on the Skylink, the indigos could do with a refurb too

You have to admire the effort that goes into planning Yourbus routes. Go to www.trentbarton.co.uk, select a route map, copy completely, check timetable and ensure their buses run 2 or 3 min in front of Trents. Sorted!

Fasts and Slows - any layout preferences?

Swings and roundabouts. From an operational point of view its probably better to have then grouped by direction as it makes it easier for trains to pass from fasts to slows without blocking the lines going in the other direction. From an engineering works perspective I think it works better...

I've always thought it would be a good idea if the Rainbow 1 and H1 were combined ala Indigo and i4. Maybe the Ilkeston routes would benefit from this too?

Go Ahead looks into growing its bus business further

Why on earth would Wellglade sell the biggest jewel in their metaphorical crown and purchase a couple of smaller operators instead? In the unlikely event that they do sell up I do however think that Wellglade as a whole would be a good fit for Go-Ahead

We are pretty fortunate to have TB around here, I think people forget that sometimes. The bus service in Swansea is (or was when I was there) shockingly poor! Dirty clapped out old buses trundling along at slow speeds running at low frequencies with no late / night services and limited Sunday...

The further you go with TB the better value their fares seem to be. A standard ZigZag for £5 is a bargain really when you consider the expanse of their network. A single for the short distance from Draycott to Long Eaton is a whopping £2.70 though!

Freight line that crosses Lock Lane, Sawley

Honestly with the windows closed you wont hear it. You cant really hear it outside during the day either. If you sleep with the window open at night you might hear a few freight trains going past but I actually find the rhythmic clunking of the coal wagons quite soothing when I'm trying to get...

Freight line that crosses Lock Lane, Sawley

Ha! I live around there! I don't really notice it to be honest. Not sure on the exact line name but the ELR is SSJ1 and it runs from Sheet Stores Jn just before Long Eaton Station to Chellaston. Its not the busiest line to be honest, most of the traffic seems to be very long coal trains for the...

They do it regularly. Usually target a different service each week I think

    Nottingham 'Bus War'

From what I see the Y36 seems to be doing particularly well, always looks busy when I see it pass. The Y5 seems to carry a fair load at times too, although not at the levels of Indigo/Skylink.
