    Transport for Wales Class 230

Hi - Perfectly legitimate question that doesn't need a sarcastic response! There are restrictions and also trains need cab end doors for evacuation purposes. Lots of work going on by the various bodies looking at technology needs and how best the line can operate in the future.

Great British Railways: Thoughts, predictions, speculation

The ”Double Arrows” have never gone away and are used for every station, and as National Rail’s logo. It’s one of the most well known logos / brands in the U.K. hence it’s use continues for the public.

TFW Rail Services to be taken in house by Welsh Government

I can't leak any conclusions but the studies cover a whole improvement along the North Wales Coast. We're looking at more services, incl. local stoppers, regional and national connections that eventually tie in with HS2 and Northern Powerhouse rail plans, and the optimal mix and timings of...

TFW Rail Services to be taken in house by Welsh Government

It did start off as a NE Wales metro, but scope has now increased to cover the whole of North Wales. There lots of plans for service improvement west of Conwy; am managing the projects now!

TFW Rail Services to be taken in house by Welsh Government

There's three current Metro schemes in development - South Wales (Cardiff, Newport and Valleys), Swansea and North Wales Metro. Metro doesn't just mean high-frequency rail, it's part of the plan to increase overall connectivity and improve public transport overall.

Campaigning for a railway line: Who to contact?

You'll need political support for this so ensure local MPs and authorities are on board. DfT has the reopening the railways fund too; am unsure if there'll be a second-round but you can apply for funding to help develop cases.

TFW Rail Services to be taken in house by Welsh Government

It shouldn't have much impact upon the various Metro schemes across Wales as these are being developed by TfW (Gov) rather than the operator. Of course, the railway's funding is in dire straits at the moment across the UK, so we could see some retiming of developments, but infrastructure is a...

The flights are currently suspended until January I believe but yes they'll still be running.

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

Wales' transport issues are the opposite to the UK in that East West links tend to be better in Wales (purely as the important centres and markets are Cardiff/Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester/Liverpool) as opposed to North South. The full route is a limited market and there's an aspect of...

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

All servioces in Wales are funded by the taxpayer! The loco hauled stock has never been diagrammed for the South Wales - Manchester services, although they will be getting 'first class' with the new stock too.
