That is what I thought but is it something that could be done gradually say when life expired equipment is replaced? The reason I say this is that it is highly unlikely that the 3rd rail system will be upgraded to OLE anytime soon so this may be an alternative way of providing more power to...
I have been reviewing posts re 3rd rail southern region in the UK. I know that power supply limitations mean that trains are often derated eg class 444) and also limit the number of units used at any one time. I was wondering if a second rail in the middle of the tracks could be added at -750V...
I think 7/8 weekends a year would be fine (and understandable) but it is happening on every weekend looking at RTT. I was wondering if network rail are trying to catch up on renewals after the report into the SWR network a few years ago?
Also I don't think track renewal is done via High output...

I agree that there needs to be more to promote HS2. I tried to start a petition on the parliament website to ask MPs to bring forward legislation to give it the final go ahead before this governments review but unfortunately it was rejected. I'd be happy to support any group that promotes HS2.
I am increasingly concerned that a new Tory government could scrap or cut back HS2 so I have setup a petition to urge the government to bring forward legislation to allow the line to be built as soon as possible.
The link to the petition is below. It requires 5 signatures for it to go live...
